Mrs. Hawa.T. Ajei is a Barrister and Solicitor whose core professional focus and interest has been in the development and monitoring of regulatory and institutional frameworks in the energy sector for emerging economies.
Hawa’skey competencies are in: interpretative and drafting skills pertinent to the practice of law; advising on regulatory compliance mechanisms and approaches; formulation of strategy for the management and mitigation of legal risk in statutory/ corporate organizations; analyzing and advising on financial risk management strategies in the energy and natural resource sectors etc.; conducting legal due diligence on corporate transactions including on project identification, preparation, implementation and appraisal; contract negotiations for energy transactions, and other major investment and infrastructure projects; appraisal of the securitization and syndication of credit facilities from local and international capital markets for investment purposes in developing economies and emerging markets; analyzing and advising on risk assessment strategies for international development assistance facilities from Multilateral Institutions such as World Bank, IFC, AfDB, etc. for national developmental projects in developing economies; designing, structuring and procuring of Public-Private Partnership engagements; etc.
Hawa holds an LLM in Energy Law with Distinction from the University of Dundee, Scotland; and an LLB Hons. Degree from the University of Ghana. Hawa also has Bachelors Degree in International Development Studies from the University of Trent, Canada, and in Political Science from Fourah Bay College, University of Sierra Leone.She is a member of the Bar Association of Ghana. She is currently Legal Director and Secretary to the Board of the National Petroleum Authority, Ghana.
